Community health centers provide high-quality comprehensive primary health care that includes medical and behavioral health services at all clinic sites and dental health services at select locations in both states. The community health center model of care focuses on serving the patient as a whole through primary and preventive care in addition to patient education that encourages positive patient choices for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
There are over 50 primary care delivery sites located in rural and urban locations across the Dakotas in medically underserved areas and health professional shortage areas designated by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Clinics located in these high-need areas are eligible for loan repayment and tuition reimbursement programs offered from each state and through the National Health Service Corps.
All clinic sites offer a sliding fee scale discount plan that ensures access to affordable health care for all patients regardless of their financial status or insurance coverage.
Loan Repayment
The National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program provides $50,000 (or the outstanding balance of qualifying student loans if it is less than $50,000), tax free, to primary care medical, dental and mental health clinicians in exchange for two years of service at an approved site in a Health Professional Shortage Area. Upon completion of the service commitment, clinicians may be eligible to apply for additional support for extended service.
